CLICK HERE TO REPORT ANY SUSPICIOUS BEHAVIOR WHILE PLAYING MTGO
Great play experiences are an important part of our strong Magic: The Gathering Online community. With that in mind, check out these tips to help make MTGO a safe, friendly, and fun environment for all players:
Passwords
Protecting your password is essential to keeping your account safe while playing MTGO. Sharing your account information, even with friends, can lead to deactivation for violating our Terms of Service.
No Daybreak Games employee will ever ask you for your password. If someone asks you for your password, do not share it and please report it here.
We also recommend not using the same login or password on MTGO that you use anywhere else online or using security questions and answers that you may have posted on your social media accounts, such as names of family members or pets.
Trading
Always be careful when trading cards while playing Magic Online. If a trade seems too good to be true, unfortunately, it usually is. For example, someone may be trying to trade stolen cards to you, which may result in both you and them getting in trouble- up to and including the deletion of your account.
Other things to look out for when trading:
- Receiving funds using multiple PayPal (or other) accounts
- Receiving cards from multiple MTGO accounts
- Communicating with them outside of MTGO via social media
- Being rushed or pressured to make trades
If you feel you have been the victim of a fraudulent trade, please contact us here so that we can investigate.
You can also request a limited trade history from CS. While there is no guarantee that we can retrieve the data you request, we will try to be as helpful as possible.
If you do not have the ability to trade on your MTGO account, it is likely because your account is under investigation. Your trading privileges will be reactivated once the investigation is over. Please contact us here if you have questions about the status of your account.
Please note, we are unable to discuss the status of MTGO accounts with anyone other than the registered owner.
Cheats & Scams
Phishing scams use email to gain access to your account passwords, bank information, and other important personal data. Always be suspicious of any email asking for your password or offering you free cards.
There are no sanctioned cheats, hacks, mods, bots, or any other kind of attachments for Magic: The Gathering Online. Accessing a site offering them may cause your account to be compromised, and using one is a violation of our Terms. Promoting or discussing one of these may also lead to your account being suspended as it violates our Rules of Conduct.
Purchasing or selling a Magic: The Gathering Online account is a violation of our Terms of Service. You are responsible for all activity conducted on any account you have created, which includes but is not limited to selling an old account you are not using or creating a new account for someone, which may lead to the loss of your account(s).
Two-Factor Authentication
We strongly advise enabling Two-Factor Authentication to enhance the security and safety of your MTGO account. For more information, please click here.
