The basic Magic Online account is free to download and includes everything you need to get started, including over 2,000 cards. While Magic Online does not have any monthly fees, not all game features are available with the basic account.
To get the most out of Magic Online (including the ability to buy Event Tickets, Deck products, and booster packs), you’ll need to upgrade to a full account.

Upgrading your account costs $4.99 and adds over 5,000 cards to your account, unlocks all Magic Online account features (including Trading, Chat, the complete Magic Online Store) and more. Complete contents of the Starter Kit and Account Upgrade Kit can be found here.
- Event Tickets are available for purchase for $1.00 each in the Magic Online Store and are used to enter events (other entry requirements may also be necessary based on the type of event).
- Deck products and specialty products typically range from $4.99 to $24.99 each.
- Most booster packs cost $3.99 each, though specialty sets can run up to $6.99 each.
