Follow these steps to resolve common issues such as bad installations, improperly cached files, or corrupted data. It’s important to complete each step in the given order, including restarting your computer, to ensure a clean installation.
Note: A clean installation of the game may take more time than a typical PC game re-install and will clear your saved match history.
Step 1: Uninstall Magic Online
Open the Programs Menu:

- Press Windows key + R (or go to Start → Search → type "Run" and select it).
- In the box, type: control appwiz.cpl and click OK.
Find Magic Online:
- A list of installed programs will appear. Scroll down to the "M" section to locate any programs that begin with Magic: The Gathering Online.
Uninstall All Versions:
- Right-click each version of Magic Online and select Uninstall/Change. Follow the prompts to remove the program.
- Repeat this process until no Magic Online programs remain.
Step 2: Delete game files
Delete Additional Files:
- Press Windows key + R to open the Run dialog.
- Type: %LocalAppData%\Apps and press Enter.
- Locate the folder named 2.0 and delete it.
Step 3: Clear the ClickOnce Cache
- Open the Run Dialog:

- Press Windows key + R (or go to Start → Search → type "Run" and select it).

- Clear the Cache:
- In the box, type: rundll32 dfshim CleanOnlineAppCache and click OK. If prompted, confirm the action.
Step 3: Restart Your Computer
- Restart your computer to ensure all changes take effect.
Step 4: Download and Install Magic Online
- Go to the official download page.
- Download the installer by selecting DOWNLOAD NOW.
- Run the installer and follow the on-screen instructions to reinstall Magic Online.
